APPROACH TOWARDS RELIGIOUS MINORITIES AND SPIRITUAL MOVEMENTS

A Peacemaking Project by Followill K.

What is the injustice we are solving?

My project will focus on the idea that people within my community that do have a different perspective of faith and religious beliefs will be free from the dangers of religious extremism from majority religious groups and also live in an environment where they can be free to worship as they wish and please. The main example can be picked from the experiences of the muslim minority in Rohingya living in Myanmar.

Followill, welcome to Peace First Community! Thank you for sharing your project with us! I think religious freedom is a big issue in Myanmar these days! It would be great to read more about how you will tackle this issue and what activities do you want to implement! I am sure there are many Peace First members who would be interested to read more about your project.

Amani, thanks to hear from you please. I have started posting updates on my wall for the project. Please you should also know that in africa where i operate from, we have religious extremists groups operating like Islamic state in libyia involed in slavery of africans, Bokoharm in WestAfrica, Al-shabab in East africa who have committed alot of atrocities and horrorific deeds.

And in the Centeral African Republic today, there is a religious war carrying on between muslims and christians, where a great number of people have lost their lives. I look forward to chat more with you.

Hi Followill, any updates on your project, please? Do you have a deep understanding of how to solve this issue?

We would encourage everyone who is at this stage of their project to work towards deepening their understanding of the injustice they are focusing on. It would be great to talk to other people in your community and try to understand their perspective or other people who are trying to solve the same justice or/and people who are already working to solve this injustice.
Also, use the problem and solution tree to discover the root causes and consequences of your chosen injustice and it will guide you to more solutions. Here are some resources on how to do that: https://www.peacefirst.org/understand-through-compassion

Please let us know how can we help.
