#BeatPlasticPollutionWithEcobricks

A Peacemaking Project by Margaret S.

What is the injustice we are solving?

Indiscriminate plastic pollution in Manchester

Our Compassionate Solution:

To solve this injustice of Indiscriminate plastic pollution in Manchester
we will address the unavailability of proper plastic disposal mechanisms
by involving Manchester residents in building ecobricks (reusable building block created by packing clean and dry used plastic into a plastic bottle to a set density.) for various environmental projects.

Our Project Plan:

Goals

  • Tackle plastic pollution by converting used plastics to ecobricks which will be used for environmental projects

We will increase my / our compassion by...

Environmental justice is a very compassionate subject. Humans and sea creatures are suffering immensely from plastic pollution and we are moved with compassion to help find a solution, hence, ecobricks. We will continually scale up our compassion by increasing our work rate and numbers. The more ecobricks we make, the more compassionate we get and the more lives we save.

How will you show courage?

We look forward to carrying out our tasks with our helmets of courage worn always. It takes a lot of courage to have people on your side, pick up trash, donate their plastics and believe in what we do as well. We understand this and hope to have a good shot of it at all times. We also hop to affect everyone we come in contact with our dose of courage and compassion to continually yearn for a plastic-free world.

How will you collaborate with others?

We are collaborating with volunteers from various regions and social enterprises. We are collaborating with local retail stores to provide used plastic bottles We are collaborating with homes to donate their plastic wastes We are collaborating with consultants and production engineers to assist with the use of the ecobricks in building environmental-friendly edifices We are collaborating with funding partners, legal services and mentor organizations as well.

How will you know you are moving in the right direction? (What are specific ways you can measure your impact?)

This will be measured in three streams; 1. The number of plastic bottles recovered with the time period 2. The number of ecobricks made and used for building projects 3. The public opinion in manchester about plastic bottles after the project which will be done by an outsourced online surveyor.

Key Steps

  • 1. Pick up plastic bottles from retail stores and homes
  • 2. Build ecobricks
  • 3. Use ecobricks in environmental-friendly constructions in collaboration with production and civil engineers
