Culture Celebration Day
A Peacemaking Project by Miguel S.
What is the injustice we are solving?
Ignorance of Others’ cultures
Our Compassionate Solution:
To solve this injustice of Cultural ignorance
we will address The lack of education about cultures
by Having a cultural celebration/education day to educate the ignorant.
Our Project Plan:
- We want to educate people about other people's cultures to eliminate their ignorance and/or prejudices.
- We want to make our cultural celebration event a fun way to learn.
We will increase my / our compassion by...
We will increase our compassion by trying to teach the people who may have been hurtful to minorities. Instead of punishing, or building grudges against those who have hurt others, we will teach them about how similar everyone is and that other people's cultures should be celebrated.
How will you show courage?
We will show courage by facing the people who were hurtful to us and not letting them try to suppress our ideas.
How will you collaborate with others?
We will collaborate with the Asian Student Union, Black Student Union, and Latino Student Union at our school to set up a cultural celebration. We will also collaborate with administration to set up the event.
How will you know you are moving in the right direction? (What are specific ways you can measure your impact?)
We will know that we are moving in the right direction if we are even allowed to set up an event at school. Once we do that, we will know that we are moving in the right direction if people show up and have fun. In the end, we will probably issue a survey to everyone who attended the event to see if they learned something.
- Make the event
- Advertise the event
- Issue a survey to those who attended after the event
