Hi Esther!

Thank you so much for posting this project! It’s awesome that you are trying to do a peacemaking project addressing the lack of respect that women have gotten throughout history because of the barriers and stereotypes that have been associated with them. While your project focuses on the marginalization of women as an entirety, you may find it easier to narrow down your project solution to just one aspect in which they are being ridiculed. An example would be focusing on the injustice of stereotyping women as mothers in the household when in reality women are capable of doing whatever job they please. Of course there are many more things you can do! I’m glad that you are taking action against it! Tell me more about why you chose this injustice to focus on.

As you’re working through the steps, check out these links to the Peacemaker Manual and Peacemaking Tools for a full set of resources. And please don’t hesitate to ask any questions that come up! Here are a few awesome projects on our platform that focus on the aspect of gender inequality. I encourage you to check them out and feel free to start an online conversation with any that you find interesting:

I was wondering if you know of any groups/organizations that highlight women empowerment in their work. If you do, it would be awesome to reach out to them, but if you need help, I can find some for you! Has your country made progress in women’s rights since history? Are there countries where women’s rights are still being violated and if so, why do you think that is?

I hope that these resources are useful! You’re addressing a vital issue--everyone deserves basic human rights and shouldn’t be discriminated based on their gender. Your commitment in changing this is amazing and I can’t wait to hear your solution. Thank you for what you're doing! Let me know if you have any questions or need support in thinking about your next steps. I'm excited to support you however possible, and to watch this project grow! :)

Best,
Amy

Hi Esther! How are you? I wanted to let you know that we are reactivating the UK Challenge and we'd love to have you continue your project! Not only can you receive a $250 mini-grant to bring your project to life, but we will also be selecting some projects that finish their projects to receive additional funding of £2500 to grow their impact.

If you're interested in staying involved, I'd encourage you to keep going -- you just have a couple steps left in the Understand phase, which is the most important part of the process! Let me know how we can support you!
