Recently, Congress proposed a new healthcare plan to repeal and replace Obamacare. All month it’s been the talk of the town, so to speak, with some startling statistics and predictions released earlier this week. The Congressional Budget Office has reviewed the plan and estimates that 24 million people will lose their health insurance over the next ten years. This would occur mostly as a result of cutting spending for Medicaid, a government insurance program for low-income families and individuals who are unable to fully pay for healthcare.

When we deny a person’s access to healthcare we commit a great injustice to that individual and their family. If people cannot afford treatment, minor health problems can turn into major, debilitating diseases that prevent people from being able to do their job, take care of their family, or perhaps even focus on school.

As described by Families USA, the new healthcare plan “benefits the wealthy and healthy at the expense of the poor and sick.” Many are rising in opposition, telling Congress to #ProtectOurCare.
