Humans First.

A Peacemaking Project by Megan S.

What is the injustice we are solving?

Nowadays human rights are being discarded all the time and put to the side because of politics, politics has nothing to do with the people we are. Maybe it does have a say in what we believe in, but it doesn't change who we are as people. We should be able to live our lives with the views we have but not let that have a say in how we are treated. This is why I believe we should make a stand against politics and show that we still have our human rights even with the different views each and everyone of us has.

Our Project Plan:

  • Move politics to the side and think of Humans First.

We will increase my / our compassion by...

How will you show courage?

How will you collaborate with others?

We would work with amnesty international and other main Human Rights organisations but also work with politics. Yes, politics even though we want to put them to the side we need the help from them to understand our whole idea of Humans First.

How will you know you are moving in the right direction? (What are specific ways you can measure your impact?)

Hi Megan! Really awesome to see you posting your project. We're excited to help you support human rights!

I'd love to understand more about the problem you want to work on. I totally agree that human rights are being discarded all the time. Where do you see that happening in your community? What are some of the ways people's human rights are violated?

Once we get clear on that, I think the next step is to start talking to folks who are affected by the problem -- and maybe even causing it -- to understand what would fix this culture of disregard for people's human rights. I think that this will help us come up with a concrete solution. Here's a tool to help you with that:

By the way - I just wanted to say that I think it's really awesome that you want to work with politicians even though you believe politics is part of the problem - that instinct to cross lines of difference is amazing.
