Support for school dropouts

A Peacemaking Project by Byakuleka N.

What is the injustice we are solving?

Illiteracy here in Uganda particularly Kiboga district, many young people are found to leave school after there primary four, this has caused the area to have very many youth who are engaged in crimes because they do not have what do. I intend to provide school materials that are one of the major factors as to why young people leave school, it has come to my notice that many of there parents actually do nothing in terms of jobs since they were evicted from government land where they used to practice farming ten years ago

Our Compassionate Solution:

To solve this injustice of School dropouts
we will address Lack of school requirements. Ignorance about benefits of education.
by Providing school requirements like uniform, books, pens, bags, sets, shoes. Educating the youth about educational benefits through inspirational talks

Our Project Plan:

Goals

  • To reduce the number of school dropouts due to lack of school requirements. To establish awareness about the benefits of education among the youth. To educate the youth about how they can start small businesses to support them selves financially.

We will increase my / our compassion by...

By providing school requirements. By conducting workshops to encourage students to stay in school. By teaching students how they can start small businesses to support them selves financially

How will you show courage?

By involving all authorities that may mistake this project for any other benefits. By getting involved fully in the project work. By reaching out to individuals and organizations that can support the project.

How will you collaborate with others?

By creating a committee of the youth to run the project. By engaging all authorities in the area. By conducting timely workshops during school time. By giving accountability to those who support the project.

How will you know you are moving in the right direction? (What are specific ways you can measure your impact?)

By assessing our students about benefits of education using questioners. By assessing the number of students who drop out of school due to lack of school requirements per term.

Key Steps

  • Create a committee of 5 members to run the project. To assess students who need great help. Determine the number of students we can support per term of three months. To assess the number of students we can support per year of three terms. To assess how much funds we can raise per year. We intend to support 200 students per term.
