A Peacemaking Project by Georgia Z.

What is the injustice we are solving?

In our society, in schools teens are only taught things like Algebra and Osmosis which unless we want to become biochemists we don’t need to qualifications, Instead I believe that we should be taught how to pay bills, how to sign up to vote, how to vote, different international languages, how to be safe and basic maths, science and other subjects skills.

Hi Georgia! Thanks for posting your project and working on such an important issue of ensuring that education fits the needs of young people -- this is crucial, and it is so wonderful that you want to help shape your own education system!! I agree that education should cover important life skills to ensure folks are ready to succeed in all areas of their life. Although I think maths and science (including things like algebra and osmosis) are critically important skills for all of us to be exposed to, there are so many other skills that have been de-prioritized. I love that you are interested in supporting an education system that includes civic engagement (information on how to vote, etc.), life skills, and international languages -- this all helps to create well rounded individuals!

Your next step is to refine your ideas and create your compassionate insight. These tools can help:

https://www.peacefirst.org/understand-through-compassion
In your insight, you'll clarify what you see as the injustice/core issue you are trying to solve, what the root cause of that injustice is, and the beginning of your idea to address it! Then we will give you some feedback that you can use as you create your action plan!
