A Peacemaking Project by Sofia B.
What is the injustice we are solving?
Vibes Included is creating a community that encourages "blind" communication. I guide participants in a relaxation technique and then partner them up with someone they do not know. Someone from the community leads a conversation based on a central theme, and the participants are to answer these questions - with their eyes closed the entire time. This practice serves as a form of therapy for many - that they learn how to speak with anyone, of any age, of any race, with any hair style, with any outfit. What is irrelevant remains irrelevant. Spirit comes to light and they all recognize that when speaking with their eyes closed. Now, moving forward with this community, I wish to bring it to foster homes. To communities who need to bridge that gap. To foster intimacy. To build new friendships. To make everyone realize "I am just as complex as you are." This project will bring people together. From the core. And that's what we need now more than ever. - I started hosting these gatherings about 3 years ago in my apartment in Queens, NY. Just friends. When I moved back to South Florida, I continued hosting the gatherings in my backyard - friends, friends of friends, family. And now I have a venue in Wynwood, Miami where I host them on a biweekly basis. Again, I have high hopes of planting seeds in communities that need it most.

Thanks so much for sharing your project. I love the idea of bringing people together and cross lines of difference in innovative ways.
Do you have any particular ideas on how we can better support your work?
I look forward to hearing more.

We wanted to let you know that we are extending the deadline for active projects to apply for a Mini-Grant during this Peace First Challenge to April 15th. You can apply for a mini-grant anytime, but meeting the Challenge deadlines will make you eligible for additional opportunities.
If you do not require a mini-grant to complete your project, you can remain eligible by completing your project and Reflection before the May 31st deadline! If you submit your project plan by April 15th, we'll be sure to provide you with feedback by April 21st to support you with carrying out the plan.
If you are still in early stages of planning, you are also welcome to apply for a mini-grant at a later date -- although you may not be eligible for some of our larger opportunities, the opportunity for funding and support is always there.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and if we can help in any way!
