Sew Swag

What is the injustice we are solving?
Sew Swag Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that transforms damaged and donated apparel into fashionable outfits for the homeless population in the greater Los Angeles area. Through our motto “Upcycle. Uplift.” Sew Swag has the goal of fostering self-confidence in those in-need, ensuring that those who receive second-hand clothing never feel second-rate.

1. In Los Angeles alone, there is nearly 6,000 youth that are homeless (approximately 40% identify as LGBTQ). Sew Swag strives to provide those in-need with the clothing, dignity, and confidence necessary to begin transitioning off the streets.

2. The United States generates over 25 million pounds of textile waste every year. Sew Swag aims to reduce this footprint by upcycling discarded clothing and promoting sustainability.

3. Many apparel companies shred, incinerate, or throw away unsold and damaged merchandise. Sew Swag works with corporations in advancing social responsibility to more directly impact communities.

Hi Dillon - thanks for sharing more about your work (and that video, too! amazing!). Really excited by all that you're doing.

The next step is for you to share your Compassionate Insight with us -- what's the injustice you're solving, what's the root cause, and what's your solution -- by Feb 28th. You can do that on your dashboard.

Beyond that -- how can we help?
