Hi - my name is Tammy and I'm on the Program Team at Peace First. Have you checked out some of the Peacemaking Tools we have available? They may help with some of your planning. Have you all figured out some of the key themes you want to address with the forum? Have you considered polling students and faculty to see what kinds of issues they'd like to talk about or learn about. Good luck and we can't wait to hear about how things turn out!

Hello - how is everything going in putting together your Forum? Have you been able to identify what topics you'd like to address? We're here to help and support your work so please let me know if you need any guidance.

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for checking in! Right now we are working on nailing down a forum location and reaching out to our friends at Seattle Public Schools to spread the word. We'd primarily like to focus on racial disparities in our schools. Our primary challenge right now is getting in contact with people from the city and Seattle Public Schools, so we'd love any ideas you have on how to expedite that process.

Thanks again!

Becky

Hi Becky,

It sounds like you're starting off with folks you already know which is probably the best first step. How about talking to folks in the offices of your elected officials? I'm not families with local Seattle politics, but city counselors, state reps and senators will have folks responsible for constituent outreach that may be helpful. Good luck!

Hello there,

I know it's a been a while - just checking in to see how your forum is coming together. Have you had any luck making connections with Seattle Public Schools? How about a location and date? Would love to hear how things are going!

Thanks for checking in! We do have a location and date (afternoon of May 10), and we have a couple speakers scheduled to come in. We've changed our target audience to focus on just high school students, rather than teachers, too. This will allow us to focus our time more on the insights young people have to contribute. Thanks again!
