Empathy! I think that empathy and open-mindedness is the main thing that's lacking among individuals who bully others. When you're empathetic, you treat others the way you'd want to be treated. When you're open-minded, you don't try to judge or change people for being different. Once these two qualities are attained - fostered by one student taking the leap to help the kid who dropped their lunch tray or simply smile at everyone they see in the hallways...we will begin to move towards a culture that fosters kindness rather than "every man for himself".
