When will the homeless be acknowledged?

Homelessness increase here in Chicago by the day, there has to be so form of justice in making laws to rehab all the abandoned buildings and make them safe for the displaced families on the streets. I drive around and see mother's and children on the streets living under viaducts and tents with ice under them. I go and buy food and take it to these families to make sure they have a fulfilling meal. I truly have a passion of being able to help these families to the best of my ability. I often take food from my own house to feed the homeless, being able to help some one in need is a gift from the heart with no price.

Hi Belinda! Thanks so much for posting this. Homelessness is a terrible problem in the US, and I'm glad that you're recognizing your neighbors' humanity and needs by bringing them food. I'm curious if you're interested in working with young people in Chicago around this issue. We specifically support youth-led projects from people ages 13-24, although we welcome anyone posting to talk about their work! Thanks again for the work you're doing. :) Adrian

Hello Adrian,
I actually work with youth between the ages of 8 - 24 years of age. I advocate for the youth and support their concerns. The youth I support are the ones passing out food to the homeless individuals on the streets. The homeless families the youth serve are in the surrounding areas of Chicago. Our organization provide transportation and other resources to help the youth achieve their mission.

Hi Belinda--very cool! This sounds like important work. Would you be able to invite the youth leading the project to join the platform? Then we can support their work directly. :) Thanks for all you're doing in solidarity with youth leadership and activism!

Yes I will be able to have the youth join the platform. What do they have to do.

Hi Belinda! To have your youth join the platform, you can invite them to the project page you've created and then collaborate on it together. To do that, you should go to the project dashboard and click "Add Team Members" -- then you can invite them to join via email. Once they create accounts they'll be able to collaborate with you on the project. A couple of things to note:
-only young people 13 and up can join the online platform.
-Although collaborators will be able to see the project they are a part of and connect to it from their user profile, they will not see the link to the dashboard to make changes to the project, so you'll need to share the link to the dashboard directly with them: https://www.peacefirst.org/projects/feed-streets/dashboard

If you haven't already, be sure to check out our corresponding peacemaker and facilitator manuals:
