Forbes magazine recently released its annual list of the 100 highest paid athletes. This year, not a single woman earned enough to make it on the list. In past years, there had always been between one and three women included since the list was expanded in 2010. Serena Williams was the only woman to make the list in 2017 but since she took time off this year to have a baby, she didn’t earn enough to make the list for 2018.

Women have been making strides to achieve equal pay, especially in the world of sports. Although there have been small victories like this, it is clear that the gender wage gap is still present and perhaps ever-widening.
