Police apologize to NBA rookie for tasing incident

Sterling Brown police misconduct incident

Police in Milwaukee recently apologized to NBA rookie, Sterling Brown, for tasing and unlawful use of force back in January. What should have been a simple parking ticket escalated into police intimidation and overuse of force.

Body camera footage was released with the apology in an attempt by the Milwaukee Police Department to demonstrate more transparency. In recent years, the department has received some flack for its relationship with African-American residents due to a few high-profile cases of police misconduct.

"Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated case. It shouldn't require an incident involving a professional athlete to draw attention to the fact that vulnerable people in our communities have experienced similar, and even worse, treatment.” ~ Statement from the Milwaukee Bucks via ESPN
