The Tour Begins
Joined by family and friends at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus, Eric Dawson came back to his hometown to launch his first book, Putting Peace First: 7 Commitments to Change the World. There, Eric spoke about the power of young people and what adults can do to support the young people in their lives. He explained, "when it comes to peacemaking, it's not about how big or complicated the act is, it's about doing it with love and courage."
Eric was joined on stage by two members of the Peace-Builders team, Grace Taylor and Fitnat Mutlu, who spoke about how joining the Peace First Challenge and starting Peace-Builders made them realize they could be changemakers, not just in the future, but right now.
Eric closed the night out with some poignant nostalgia that comes with going back home, "They say you can't go home again and I think they're wrong. You bring home with you wherever you go. This place will always be home."
Following his presentation, former classmates, teachers, friends, and community members were among the many that then lined up to have Eric sign their books with the promise that they would bring these to the young people in their lives and start having conversations about peacemaking - not just in the future, but right now.
